Component and Structural Field Monitoring and Instrumentation
SOCOTEC provides field monitoring and necessary instrumentation for measuring and recording the following for buildings, bridges, rail and transit, process piping and equipment:
- Vibrations
- Displacements
- Pressures
- Strain
Our engineers integrate the necessary measuring instrumentation with corresponding actions generating loading or distress. Our engineers have utilized differing trigger activated devices, to remotely initiate data recording, and tie and record the stressor to specific events, such as a truck crossing a bridge.
Our expertise is not only associated with developing methods to record and retrieve data, but to evaluate and analyze data to derive solutions and corrective actions.
Vehicle Conditions
To address vehicle conditions, our engineers will install on-board instrumentation with remote data recording, for later processing and analysis.
Power Generation
For power generation stations, SOCOTEC engineers have monitored piping and component vibrations, system fluctuations, hydraulic transients, and stress conditions.
Change Detection System for Structural Monitoring
Visual inspections of structural coatings inside of a containment dome are often difficult and time-consuming due to the sheer size of the inspection area and the height of the dome. Dose and contamination potential limit the amount of time that can be spent on an inspection. Using the Change Detection System, SOCOTEC engineers can set up a motorized pan and tilt camera to photograph the liner coating. Images are compared to detect, identify and characterize coatings degradation.
