SOCOTEC recognizes Joelle Nelson on promotion to Vice President of the Engineering Division

Joelle NELSON

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Joelle Nelson to the role of Vice President within our ETIC division at SOCOTEC.  

Based at our U.S. headquarters in New York City, Ms. Nelson brings 20 years of extensive experience as a forensic engineer to her new position. Her expertise encompasses the design, renovation, construction, and forensic investigation of structures of varying types, ages, and materials, including long-span, high-rise, historic, and temporary structures.  

With expertise in wind-related failures and crane collapses, she actively serves on code committees for both wind loading and loads on structures during construction.  

Throughout her time at SOCOTEC, Ms. Nelson has played a pivotal role in conducting comprehensive investigation services for numerous iconic projects. Her areas of practice include root cause evaluation, expert witness testimony, and engineering design consulting.  

Ms. Nelson passionately advocates for women in the A/E/C community by actively engaging in events and spearheading initiatives to foster an inclusive and empowering environment, in addition to collaborating with fellow women in the industry across her projects: "Developing a warmer company culture is important to me - for everybody, but certainly for women who can feel left out in a still male-dominated industry. I love seeing more women running engineering companies...that feels important." 

We are proud to acknowledge Ms. Nelson’s exceptional contributions with this well-deserved promotion, confident in her wealth of knowledge and experience as she takes on the responsibilities of Vice President. We eagerly anticipate her continued success in her new role.
