PROJECT DETAILS:

Collier County Parks and Recreation designed a facility focused on large sporting tournaments.  Phase I one of the project is complete and additional funding has recently been issued to begin Phase II. Portions of the park are expected to be open to the public within the year.

The build-out of this project includes:

  • nine multi-use synthetic-turf fields
  • a large 3,000 stadium with a multi-use synthetic turf field
  • baseball & softball diamonds
  • a field house with locker-room facilities

The various structures are high bay one or two-story structures with large spans and large building loads.

SOCOTEC recommended the contractor utilize a geo-grid to aid in controlling excessive settlement conditions to tolerable limits. This allows the entire project to be constructed on a shallow foundation.  SOCOTEC’s geo-grid recommendation prevented a vibro-replacement.
