Site Monitoring

Site Monitoring

SOCOTEC has for decades been known for its practical approach to building envelope inspection and monitoring – both in the shop and on-site.   Also known as Quality Assurance (QA), job site monitoring – like shop monitoring – entails our qualified staff visiting a job site to verify compliance of work with contract documents and approved submittals. Also similar to shop monitoring, our staff then follow up by providing a summary report of our observations to the client.  This communication, whether formal reports or informal conversations, helps the project run smoother and more successfully.   The value difference in our approach is that we work closely with the trades and owner-design-construction teams on buildable solutions to on-site challenges.  We know how factors such as weather, schedule, limited access, delivery delays and sequence can impact a project and we work with the team to reduce the impact of such impacts on end quality.

Our approach is rooted in sound quality assurance practices and we specify and oversee on-site testing and QA/QC checks that help ensure the systems being installed are at the expected (high) level of performance and quality. Our experienced and qualified inspectors identify non-conformance efficiently and consistently. They are trained, pass special inspection exams and are backed by an experienced team of supervisors and field staff. We have a system that foresees the likely issues and helps avoid the same non-conforming deficiencies from job to job. We have monitored hundreds of projects, and have seen it done thousands of ways. On-site we do more than check off regulatory requirements, we monitor the execution to ensure the performance of the building envelope system meet our client’s expectations, job after job.

Special Inspections (New York City & Florida)

SOCOTEC is the first agency in New York City to receive special inspection accreditation from International Accreditation Service (IAS).  We have a large group of qualified special inspectors ready to perform special inspections.  Special inspection is the monitoring of certain critical building components requiring the attention of certified professionals with highly specialized skills and qualifications.

Shop Monitoring

SOCOTEC travels all over the world to keep an eye on the assembly process of building envelope components on our projects.  At the shop we verify compliance of the work with contract documents and approved submittals but know that to get the best quality out of a fabrication line means working well with the shop foreman, the workers and in-house QA staff.  We understand the standards and QA systems in fabrication plants ranging from precast concrete casting plants to curtain wall assembly plants to window shops to glass float and fabrication facilities.
