About William FITZJOHN

Dr. William Fitzjohn, P.E., is a Principal Engineer for Life Safety at SOCOTEC. Mr. Fitzjohn has over 40 years of experience in Construction, Quality Management System implementation and oversight for both Laboratory and inspection services, structural evaluation, forensic engineering analysis, and Structural Engineering/Design. His input has been critical in helping to establish the current roles and responsibilities of the special inspector. He is a key technical resource on this project.  ​

Mr. Fitzjohn is the trainer for many Special Inspection certifications. Through his experience, he is a trusted P.E. when it comes to filing jobs and TR-1s with the DOB.  He has extensive experience covering construction materials engineering, concrete mix designs, materials testing and special inspections, and quality management systems. He holds a BSCE (Honors) from Manchester University, UK, and a PhD in Civil Engineering/Ceramic Science from the University of Leeds, UK. In addition, he is a licensed professional engineer in the states of California, New York, and has numerous certifications in concrete inspection and testing from ICC.
