ABOUT EVENT
On December 7, 2023, the US Green Building Council (USGBC) Florida held their prestigious Florida Community Leadership Awards. The awards ceremony celebrated leaders that are helping transform the sustainability industry through excellence, innovation, knowledge, and project trends.
The event had over 100 attendees from all over the region and acknowledged the work of nominees through various awards categories which included:
Building Design and Construction Project Award
This award recognizes a design and construction project that demonstrates the use of new technologies and strategies to push the envelope of green design and meet project challenges in an innovative way.
Operations and Maintenance Project Award
This award recognizes an existing building project that demonstrates excellence in building performance through ongoing operations and maintenance.
Community Champion Award
This award is for a project that deploys exceptional actions that address community needs or social equity, meeting USGBC’s vision of healthy and sustainable buildings for all. Prime candidates include LEED social equity pilot credit users.
Climate Champion Award
This award is for a project, group or person that demonstrates exceptional and unique solutions that address carbon neutrality and the climate crisis.
Marquee Green Building Award
This award is for a culturally or historically significant building constructed, renovated, or operated within the past 10 years. These iconic buildings maintain sustainable practices and push the envelope of sustainability in design, development, and ongoing operational performance.
Judges’ Choice Award
This award is for projects that are deemed exceptional by the award judging panel. All award finalists are eligible for these awards, and the project does not have to be a winner in another category to be eligible.
Community Leader Award (individual)
This award recognizes an individual’s impact on their community by advancing the spirit of USGBC’s mission. This award recognizes individuals or organizations who have supported USGBC’s local work and activities in an exceptional way over the past year as an advocate, volunteer or partner.
Community Partner Award
This award recognizes a company that has supported USGBC’s green building movement, in addition to their efforts to foster equity and engagement within the community.
People's Choice Award
This award recognizes the voices of the green building community as they vote for their favorite from among the award finalists.
